McDonald's AI Drive-Thru Test: What Happened?
Share
Did you hear about the recent news on McDonald's experimenting with AI? They tried using artificial intelligence to take orders in their drive-thru, but it didn’t go as planned. Turns out, speaking to a robot wasn’t as smooth as they expected.
So, what went wrong? According to USA Today, when customers tried placing their orders, the tech had trouble understanding different accents, pronunciations, background noises, and it couldn't detect some menu items. It was the perfect reminder that while technology has come a long way and is typically spot on, getting things right all the time is just not the case.
Here at The Bucko, we think it’s interesting to see big companies like McDonald's having tech hiccups like this. We’re so used to hearing about technology making our lives easier, but this proves that even the biggest companies can struggle with the simplest solutions.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on this- Do you think AI will ever get drive-thru orders right? Do you want AI to be taking your order, or do you think we’ll miss that human touch?
